EXTRA HEROES: |

|
| So enter National Novel Writing Month 2004... Thanks to an aggressive push by myself and my life, I finally transported some of these ideas onto the electronic page. These characters, scenes and plot lines I have been scribbling in small notebooks for years finally were treated as they should and put into a full novel, complete with new ideas and frameworks. The series has truly been started and the continuity born. Some house-cleaning was in order. The novel was polished and edited to death and finally unleashed via Lulu.com. The story I posted two years before the novel has been removed from the site (it's part of a story that will come out later). It's wonderful to have such a fresh start on things, with real backstory and real timelines falling into place. I look forward to releasing more Extra Heroes material, through this site as exclusive extras and in future novels. I hope you'll come along for the ride! -Dean
Browell

ABOUT
THE NOVEL: |
|
In California a young man slices through the sky in a red streak. In Virginia a young girl builds an android in her garage that can carry her to school. In Louisiana a woman bursts into flames. In a small town in Indiana, an entire stadium is overwhelmed with emotion thanks to one man. And in an apartment in New York, two men attempt to make contact with all of them via a list they shouldn’t have. All over the country individuals are exposing strange and wonderful abilities to a world that may not be seeing such activity for the first time. Everyone wants a piece of their attention and assistance but they will decide for themselves what their fate will be. Misusing their power is not an option when an unexpected and deadly adversary alters the course of their lives forever. Patterns & Choices, the first Extra Heroes novel, takes the super-hero genre out of its typical comic book element and explores themes of heroism and responsibility through surprising realism and a thoughtful, original cast of characters. Extra Heroes: Patterns & Choices is a novel for many ages (13+) by Dean Browell. (NOTE: Extra Heroes: Patterns & Choices is for Teen Audiences and Up: Content is suitable for persons ages 13 and older. May contain mild or strong language, mild violence, and/or suggestive themes.) |
