Meet The Cardinal Lacie stared out her window and watched the clouds go by. The clouds were particularly pretty today as they passed by the blue sky over the green hills and valleys where Lacie lived. Lacie often sat on her bed and daydreamed about other people, places and things. Her favorite person to think about was a super-hero far away in the city called The Cardinal. One reason Lacie liked The Cardinal was because The Cardinal had red hair like her mother. Lacie had blonde hair, but she thought her mother's hair was very pretty. Lacie also liked The Cardinal because she helped people. The more she thought about The Cardinal, the more she liked her. Lacie had all kinds of posters, magazines and newspapers with The Cardinal in them. She liked to collect things that had The Cardinal in them. The Cardinal dressed in gray and red. With her red hair (that looked more orange) Lacie thought she looked a little like the bird called a cardinal. She could almost fly through the air like a cardinal too. Lacie would daydream about how The Cardinal would be carried by the wind. Lacie had heard that The Cardinal moved very fast and had special hearing as well. Sometimes when Lacie would daydream, she would think about The Cardinal and how she would help people in the city. One day Lacie thought about how The Cardinal would help firefighters rescue a man and a woman from a building that was on fire. She imagined that The Cardinal would jump up and be carried by the wind to the open window. The Cardinal could hear the people call from inside and quickly bring them out. She could float to the ground with a person on each arm. Lacie had read in a book that The Cardinal used to be a pilot. Lacie thought that being a pilot would be a pretty neat thing to do too! Lacie stopped daydreaming when she heard her mother call for her from downstairs. Maybe she heard her mother call because she had super-hearing like The Cardinal! Lacie left her window and the pretty view, but she knew she could go back at any time and think about The Cardinal. If you ever want to know anything about The Cardinal, you should just ask Lacie!
