Meet Coins
by Dean Browell

I have a secret to tell...

I know a super-hero!

I have seen her grow up.    When she was in high school she would write things in the corner of her notebook.   The teacher would talk and some kids would listen, some would write love notes, some would draw super-heroes in the corners of their notepads and there was Coins, writing long math problems!   She was not your ordinary kid... She invented things like bracelets that could expand and a set of metal wings for her cat!   For her science project she made a big robot she called "Boy" and every year she builds him a new body.

The kids called her Coins because she was so good at video games.   She would spend hours at the arcade after school and it wasn't long before she was making her own video games.   Eventually she would make a game featuring her and Boy fighting bad guys and stopping crime.

Today Coins fights crime just like in her video game.   She built more bracelets that do all sorts of fantastic things.   Some make a bubble of energy that stops things and some are very sharp and can be thrown.   She always has tricks up her sleeve!

Boy is her pet robot that she built herself.   Coins is always improving Boy, sometimes making him fly or letting him have a pair of eyes that have spotlights.   Usually Boy is built to be much bigger than Coins, but she only does this so he can hoist her on his shoulder and carry her around!   Some days you can just see Coins peeking up over houses because she's on Boy's giant shoulders!

Coins tries hard to live a life of adventure.   Sometimes she makes decisions that get her into trouble, but with a little luck and a lot of smarts she's always getting out of as much trouble as she gets into!

Coins likes sleeves and dresses any way she wants.   She was never worried about make up or dolls- she would wire her dolls to talk back and eat her cooked carrots.   (Coins hates cooked carrots.)

Coins is a great role model for any little girl- she doesn't hide who she is and is always there to lend a hand.   And I should know....

Guess what my secret is?

I am Coins' little sister, Celeste!
